servants to our community, it is our job to keep up with ongoing training.
Particularly with NIMS & ICS (Incident Command System). As radio
communicators, we will likely be very heavily involved with ICS & staffing
it for special needs & allow for different agencies/organizations to
intercommunicate through us.
Remember,
practice makes perfect! There are a wide variety of independent study courses
offered free of charge through the FEMA EMI (Emergency Management Institute)
website. Scroll through the different courses & pick some that interest you.
It’s a good idea to find ones that are hazard area specific. Meaning, look for
materials that reflect the type of natural and technological emergencies &
disasters that may have an impact on your community.
