All members of the PARS emergency response plan (EOP) shall be issued
& must display an issued ID card through the PARS Coordinator Brad Smith,
AA9G. The ID card certifies each member, and in some cases, specifies specific
positions held within the organization, as a function of the Emergency
Communications System (ECS). A digital picture of yourself, from shoulder length
to top of head, is required for the ID. It must be emailed to: aa9g@sbcglobal.net
for further processing.
Note that ID’s
are produced by a vendor in
Texas
. It may take up to 1 week or longer to receive them via snail mail. Please
anticipate this & allow for extra timing. If a temporary badge is needed to
be issued, they are on hand, if & when needed.
The badge process requires verification from a county/state
ESDA (Emergency Services Disaster Agency), any public service agency or entity,
a military service ID badge, a law enforcement, haz-mat, or fire personnel ID
badge, a RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service), Red Cross,
Salvation Army, or otherwise emergency service group in a basic background
screening process. This is needed to authenticate all badged members have
cleared a criminal background that will allow them access to non-public,
restricted or otherwise off limits areas to the general public, including the
“yellow” and “red zone” areas of a disaster scene and to comply with all
NIMS (National Incident Management System) requirements.
Verification of this can be done through an issued ID card through the
specific organization or agency. As long as a background check was conducted
through them. Here are a few links that you can also use to complete a
background check:
Winnebago Co. ESDA application can be obtained at the bottom of this
website (in Microsoft Word format): www.angelfire.com/tv2/skywarn
or you can request an application here from the Illinois State Police to check
your own background, (A $16 fee does apply). http://www.isp.state.il.us/crimhistory/crimhistoryhome.cfm.
NO
FINGERPRINT SCREENING IS REQUIRED AT THIS TIME.
All PARS members
are encouraged to complete the four basic NIMS courses free of charge from the
FEMA EMI (Emergency Management Institute) website. They are,
